ASIMO is a bipedal humanoid robot introduced by Honda on 31 October 2000. It was designed to demonstrate the vision for people's daily lives with robots. ASIMO has traveled around the world and performed in front of international audiences, making its first public appearance in the United States in 2002 when it rang the bell to open trade sessions for the New York Stock Exchange. In 2004, ASIMO was inducted into Carnegie Mellon's Robot Hall of Fame as the first robot to demonstrate true human-like mobility. Over time, ASIMO evolved from a mere automatic machine into an autonomous one, gaining the ability to make decisions and act on its own according to the movements of people around it.
